The Working Group is tasked with providing a quick overview of best practices and policy, technology and infrastructure requirements to establish regional and national platforms and content that can promote achievement of the SDGs within their 15 year time frame. In the second phase of this work, the Broadband Commission together with the UN, will work with governments, businesses, and UN agencies to implement these recommendations and support 


WG comprises the following members, including 10 Commissioners and 4 External Members:

​ Objectives
  • ​To recommend appropriate national and regional platforms to support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focusing on (at least) health, education, e-governance, financial inclusion, smart infrastructure, oceans and forests (serving SDGs 1,3,4,7, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15 and 16).
  • To aggregate, review and develop ICT based content that can help in the achievement of the SDGs..​
  1. ​​​​​​​​​The group was announced in New York on September 2015. 

  2. The group has held one onsite meeting in Dubai (March 2016) and several meetings via teleconference .​​
