Vice-Minister for Policy Coordination (International Affairs), Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Japan
Ms Makiko Yamada serves as Vice-Minister for Policy Coordination for the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC).
She began her career in the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT, currently merged into MIC) in 1984 and served as the Deputy Mayor for Setagaya City. She brought extensive experience in international telecommunications policy and has held several high-level posts including Director-General of the Information and Communications Bureau, MIC; Director-General of Minister's Secretariat, MIC; Director-General of the Global ICT Strategy Bureau, MIC; Executive Assistant to the Prime Minister.
She graduated from Waseda University's School of Law (Graduation in March 1984, Bachelor of Laws) and the London School of Economics and Political Science (Graduation in June 1988, Diploma in Economics).
